Initially created to ease the transition from daycare to school, Laurus is the perfect place for your mini-me to continue developing their skills in a fun, safe and nurturing environment, all while developing the beginning stages of independence.

The Laurus Juniors Program caters to preschool children (ages 3-4) and provides them with the opportunity to advance their cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development.

Throughout the summer, our Junior campers will be exposed to a variety of experiences, including story time, circle time, sensory activities, physical activities, and little life lessons that will leave them better equipped to tackle day-to-day challenges. In addition, our Juniors will have the chance to experience a new Specific Training Area (STA) offered on site every single day throughout the week. From cooking to science, art to soccer and everything in between, your child will get the perfect introduction to a fun filled summer of discovery!  We believe that it is through these various channels of exploration that our Juniors will best be able to learn about themselves and the world surrounding them.

From optional nap times to assistance with sunscreen application and tweaking of activities, we promise to do our best to meet all of your requests!

Learning Skills

This 30 minute time block will allow Juniors to focus on the daily learning skill. Monday’s “opening circle” will include a welcome song, ice breakers and a presentation of the weekly theme. Remaining mornings will provide Juniors with opportunities to practice said skill.

Water Games

Juniors will use this 45 minute time block to enjoy a variety of outdoor water games. Counselors are mindful of the weather, specifically cooler August mornings. On these days, it may be necessary to swap Water Games programming with Creative, Motor or Skill Skills.

Specific Training Area (STA)

Juniors will shift through the offered STAs on a daily basis, allowing them to have a well-rounded experience and an introduction to everything we offer.

This 45 minute time block should be dedicated to a creative activity, either art or science, related to the weekly theme.

Motor (Physical) Skills

This 45 minute time block will be dedicated to movement, targeting various gross motor skills. Whether it be running, jumping, or musical chairs, the physical activity should relate to the weekly theme.

Social-Emotional Skills

Campers will listen to a variety of stories and act out scenarios pertaining to the weekly social skill selected. Lessons relate to daily happenings, materials presented and correspond to the overall weekly theme.
